THE BLANK ARTIST IN RESIDENCE / FONDAZIONE BANCA POPOLARE DI BERGAMO

The Blank Artist in Residence – Fondazione Banca Popolare di Bergamo is the first project of The Blank Residency. It is characterized by the collaboration and the link to museum GAMeC - Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Accademia Carrara di Belle Arti di Bergamo, and it has been made possible thanks to the support of Fondazione Banca Popolare di Bergamo.
The artist selected for the first edition (2012) is the Dutch Remco Torenbosch.

Consequently, throughout my works I explore socio-political processes, cultural and economic conventions, and the sharing of information. Thereby I’m not only redefining art production but also reconsidering fundamental values of our social system including the transparency of information, politics and ownership.
I’m interested in how information is or isn’t functioning within politics, policies and society. What are the situations in which information can and cannot exist and will or will not be tolerated. Within this distilling I copy, rewrite and apply the social value of information into physical- and non-physical objects.
